    One place for every pump unit

    A single pump conversation touches five unit families: pressure on the gauge, flow on the nameplate, power on the motor, temperature on the process, and viscosity on the liquid datasheet. When these come from different vendors — Indian in m³/h and kW, imported in GPM and HP — comparing them correctly means converting each family once. This suite does all five on one page.

    The pressure tab converts between bar, kg/cm², psi, kPa and MPa and adds head in metres at the liquid’s SG. The flow tab converts the five volumetric units and adds kg/h. The power tab covers kW, W and HP; the temperature tab covers °C, °F and K; the viscosity tab covers cSt, cP, m²/s and Saybolt seconds.

    SG-aware conversions are the difference

    Three of the five families depend on specific gravity: pressure to head, volumetric to mass flow, and kinematic to dynamic viscosity. A generic converter that assumes water gets all three wrong for chemicals. The suite asks for SG wherever it matters, with water as the default, so the same tool works for a PTFE-lined pump moving 98 % sulphuric acid (SG ≈ 1.84) or a dairy pump moving milk (SG ≈ 1.03).

    1 bar ≈ 10.2 m of water · 1 kg/cm² ≈ 10 m of water · 1 psi ≈ 0.70 m of water · 1 kW = 1.341 HP · 1 m³/h = 16.667 L/min = 4.403 GPM · °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 · cP = cSt × SG · SSU ≈ 4.66 × cSt. Each of these appears live in the suite, and each is a fact engineers quote daily on plant floors across Gujarat.

    Using the suite in real work

    Compare a 25 m³/h, 40 m, 7.5 kW Indian duty with a US curve in GPM, ft and HP: enter 25 m³/h in the flow tab (≈110 GPM), 40 m in the pressure tab at SG 1.0 (≈4 bar), and 7.5 kW in the power tab (≈10 HP) — the curve now reads in the same units and the comparison is honest.

    Q1.How do I convert kW to HP?

    Multiply kilowatts by 1.341: 7.5 kW equals about 10.06 HP. One metric horsepower is 0.7457 kW. Indian pump datasheets quote both, and motor frame selection (IS 1231) is based on kW, so convert HP ratings before comparing motors.

    Q2.How do I convert cSt to cP?

    Multiply kinematic viscosity in centistokes by the liquid’s specific gravity: cP = cSt × SG. Water at 20 °C is 1.0 cSt and 1.0 cP. A 100 cSt oil with SG 1.5 has 150 cP. Centistokes is kinematic; centipoise is dynamic — the two are equal only at SG 1.0.

    Q3.What is Saybolt seconds (SSU)?

    Saybolt Universal Seconds is an older viscosity measure from calibrated flow orifices, still common on lubricant datasheets. SSU is approximately 4.66 × cSt — the approximation is close above about 100 cSt and less accurate below, which is why the suite flags the SSU row as approximate.

    Q4.Why does specific gravity matter in conversions?

    SG links pressure to head (h = P × 10.197 ÷ SG), volumetric to mass flow (kg/h = m³/h × 1000 × SG) and kinematic to dynamic viscosity (cP = cSt × SG). Each of these conversions is exact only when the right SG is used, so the suite asks for SG wherever the conversion depends on it.

    Q5.Which units do Indian pump datasheets use?

    Indian pump datasheets typically use m³/h for flow, metres for head, kW for power, kg/cm² or bar for pressure, and °C for temperature. Imported curves add GPM, psi, HP and °F. This suite converts all of them so vendor curves compare directly.

    Q6.Can I convert everything in one place?
